Carly Simon reveals 'Vain' riddle
Carly Simon is finally revealing the secret of who she wrote her classic hit You're So Vain about.
The singer has kept the identity of the man who inspired the song - rumoured to have been Cat Stevens, Kris Kristofferson, Mick Jagger or Warren Beatty - close to her chest for 38 years, but now she is about to make it public in her new album Never Been Gone.
Carly told Uncut magazine: "You know what, I'm just going to tell you this - the answer is on the new version of You're So Vain, on my new record Never Been Gone - there's a little whisper - and it's the answer to the puzzle."
The album, released on March 1, features 10 new recordings of some of her best known songs, including the 1972 hit You're So Vain, and two new songs.
A portion of the album proceeds will go to the Carly Simon Music Therapy Initiative, a collaboration with Berklee College Of Music.
