Carl Barat has announced details about his forthcoming debut solo album.
The Libertines co-frontman - who is to play the band's first full gig in six years later in the month at Reading and Leeds festivals - will release both his self-titled record and debut solo single, Run With The Boys, on October 4.
His spokesperson said: "Having released two albums with The Libertines and then a further two with Dirty Pretty Things, Carl was very keen to do his own record and do things his own way - the result is a very honest and heartfelt record, with upbeat tales of friendship and laments for lost love."
One of the tracks, So Long My Lover, has been described as "uplifting" and "joyful", despite being about the end of a relationship.
Carl will also be releasing his first book, Threepenny Memoir, on September 30.
The book, a collection of stories and memories from his life, will include chapters about his love of London, his heroes, his adventures in theatreland and the highs and lows of being in a band like The Libertines.
