Bob Dylan: I predict a riot Slane, 1984
Who’d have thought Bob Dylan would inspire a riot?
On the evening of Sunday, July 8th, some fans pouring out of Slane went on the rampage in the village. As terrified locals watched, 1,000 people fought with each other, threw rocks, bottles and even looted shops. It took the arrival of the Garda riot squad from Dublin to regain control. Residents were furious, Lord Mount Charles was “depressed” and thankfully rigorous security was put in place for future events.
