Beady Eye guitarist Gem Archer is expected to make "a full recovery" after suffering a head injury which forced the band to cancel their appearance at the V Festival.

The musician was in hospital for several days after suffering a "severe head trauma" before going home to recover - forcing the band to cancel shows in Belgium and Japan as well as the festival which ran across two sites at the weekend (August 17-18).

A statement on the band's website said: "We are gutted about all the cancelled shows but thank you for understanding that we need to prioritise our mate and his recovery. The good news is Gem is doing well so far and is expected to make a full recovery over the next few weeks."

The band, fronted by ex-Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, said they would be back on stage in the UK and Ireland in November.
