Adele tops Irish singles chart with Bond track ‘Skyfall’

Adele's Skyfall.

ADELE has landed the top spot in this week’s Irish singles chart with her new track ‘Skyfall’ – the theme for the new Bond movie.

The Grammy winning singer, who is expecting her first child within weeks, went straight to the top of the charts - knocking One Direction down to number six.

Meanwhile dance group ‘Swedish House Mafia’ have landed in number two, with their last ever release ‘Don’t You Worry Child’.

There was disappointment however for former X Factor winner Leona Lewis – her new song ‘Trouble’ only managed to limp in at number 21, despite a performance on last weekend’s X Factor.

However there may be a silver lining for the singer – her new album ‘Glassheart’ which was released today looks like it is heading to the top of the downloads chart.

Meanwhile Mumford and Sons have retained the number one spot in the album charts, with the week’s highest new entry from Ellie Goulding landing at number eight.
