The OneRepublic frontman, who is about to start writing a song for the British Grammy-winning Chasing Pavements singer, told the Daily Star: "When I like an artist enough, like Adele, it makes me nervous.

"I'm dealing with an artist who has already proven herself and has a particular sound - I don't want to be the one to mess it up," he added.

Ryan - who has written songs for Cheryl Cole and the Noisettes - also said he's a big fan of Lady Gaga, but admitted he didn't even know who she was when he first met her.

"I'm a huge Lady Gaga fan, she makes the world a more incredible place," the producer and singer-songwriter said.

"We did a show with her early last year and her manager approached me to say, 'Lady Gaga wants to speak to you'. I was like, 'Who the hell is Lady Gaga?' which seems so funny now because of how huge and famous she is."
