With clear blue skies and lush spring growth, the day could not have been better for the launch of the 2011 Carrigtwohill Medieval Festival and Country Fair.
Committee members and their families got together in full country style regalia in order to get you into the swing of things for the upcoming event, which is set to take place on Saturday & Sunday the 9th & 10th July.
“This is the greatest countryside event in Munster and a fantastic display of our best rural traditions,” noted James Horgan, the Festival Chairperson. “We will shortly have our full programme in place in what promises to be yet another fantastic celebration of country life.” James went on to note, “New this year will be the incredibly exciting spectacle of Polocross, the fastest growing equestrian activity in Ireland. This will be in addition to the many countryside sporting pursuits and displays already scheduled for the event.”
Set within the stunning environs of Barryscourt Castle, the Carrigtwohill Medieval Festival and Country Fair is an essential date for your diary this summer for an amazing family day out. Whatever age or interest, there is something for everyone, with sporting pursuits and attractions geared to keep you gripped throughout the weekend.
The organising committee recently launched a new web site for the Festival. Here, you will shortly be able to access the full programme of events at www.carrigfest.com . The committee would like to thank all their supporters, especially Terence O’Brien on whose land the event takes place, SECAD Ltd., for their continued support, and to 96 FM, their media sponsor.
