Music: Little Hell by City and Colour ****

Canada may not quite punch above its weight in the way it did six or seven years ago, but its music scene remains a healthy petri dish of varied talent.
Former Alexisonfire frontman Dallas Green records under the City and Colour moniker and this, his third album, is well worth investigation.
Fragile Bird is a compelling song built around bluesy guitar riffs while the gorgeous Northern Wind employs the services of a cello.
Whether delivering one-man anthems or sparse songs augmented by slide guitar, Green is a master of all he surveys. By the third listen, Little Hell feels like one album you'll want to live with for a long time. And it's all the more refreshing that it is released unencumbered by hype -- on this side of the Atlantic, anyway.
