Zeta-Jones joins Rock of Ages?
Catherine Zeta-Jones is to join the cast of Rock of Ages as the film's villain.
The Oscar-winning Chicago star is in final negotiations to star alongside Tom Cruise in Adam Shankman's adaptation of the Broadway musical, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed, in a role that wasn't part of the original stage show.
Adam said: "It's a character that we only really came to in the last month, the character was invented to streamline the stories."
He described the character as, "if Tipper Gore and Anita Bryant had a love child. She is this hardcore, moral majority, arch-conservative who wants to shut down rock'n roll in the great city of Los Angeles."
Adam said of Catherine's involvement: "It's like the musical gods just blessed us!"
It was previously reported that Amy Adams was in talks to play a journalist who plans to write an expose on Tom's hard-partying rock star character but ends up having a fling with him, which could be the part Catherine is now set to play.
Rock Of Ages is a love story set to 80s rock ballads including Bon Jovi and Journey and will also star Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand and Julianne Hough.
Filming is due to begin in Miamiu in May and the movie is set to be released in June 2012.
