Willow Smith: Why I quit Annie
Willow Smith has said she quit the Annie remake because she wanted to take some time out from work to find herself.
The 13-year-old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith became a child star after making her movie debut aged six alongside her father in I Am Legend, and had a major hit aged just nine with Whip My Hair.
Willow was due to star in Jay Z's remake of musical Annie, which Will is producing, but has been replaced by Beasts Of The Southern Wild Oscar-nominee Quvenzhane Wallis.
Willow told V magazine: "I just wanted to chill, and be at home, and decompress, and just find out what I wanna do and where I stand on this planet, with the little tiny place we have...
"I just feel like I want to do it different than the world's ready for... I'm enjoying just being independent and doing my own thing."
The actress and singer admitted in an interview back in 2010: "Famous-ness is awesomeness... but some parts of famous-ness can be hard. The hardest part is wanting to hang out with your friends when you have to work and make platinum records. And your friends come over, and you're recording, and you're like, 'Please let me go with my friends. I don't wanna stay here!' But people are relying on you."
Willow also did a photo shoot with Karl Lagerfeld for V magazine.
She revealed the designer, who she visited in his Paris studio last year, was "very, very friendly and open. I thought he was gonna be really mysterious, like peering over his glasses, evaluating. But he was just awesome. I don't have words, because he's such a huge icon."
Willow said of her style: "I can never tell what I'm gonna wear. I kind of just put on whatever feels right. Sometimes that's Converse and a T-shirt, sometimes it's Givenchy heels and leather pants."
