Bruce Willis has said he liked being part of a team on action sequel Red 2.

The Hollywood hardman is used to saving the world single-handed in the Die Hard franchise, but in comic book movie Red he is part of a team of retired assassins, fighting with and against stars including John Malkovich, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lee Byung-hun, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Dame Helen Mirren.

Bruce revealed at the sequel's Los Angeles premiere: "It's a big funny crowd. I like ensemble films. I like working with all these actors and getting to work with Tony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Lee Byung-hun - I got to fight with him and have fun with him."

The 58-year-old action hero is used to winning his fight scenes, but he insisted he enjoyed being on the losing side for once in his battle with Lee Byung-hun.

He joked: "It was painful, painful but very watchable! It was nice being on the other side for once.

"It's not that challenging. It's just more fun than anything. Everybody had a good time."

Red 2 is released in UK cinemas on August 2, 2013.
