Will Ferrell: Anchorman 2 on hold
Will Ferrell has revealed that Anchorman 2 has been put on hold.
The American funnyman, who is expected to reprise the title role as anchorman Ron Burgundy in the long-awaited sequel, told Zoo magazine: "I thought we were doing it - I was told it was happening and now I've heard it's going to be too hard to get everyone together."
He added: "Hopefully, Adam McKay [the director] will be able to talk to all the guys individually and see if we can figure it out."
Will, who next appears in DreamWorks animated comedy MegaMind and action-comedy The Other Guys with Samuel L Jackson and Eva Mendes, reckons the follow-up couldn't match up to the original, which also starred Paul Rudd and Steve Carell.
"We don't think we can make it as good," he said.
"It would be really fun to do, so we might just try to make the craziest sequel you've ever seen. It could be terrible, but if they're going to pay us to do it, then why not, right?"
