Weird not wonderful
Walking with Dinosaurs is based on a 1999 BBC mini-series and uses Cgi and 3D to recreate the inter-species rivalries of the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 million years ago.
The film is set in what is now Alaska, and focuses on the fortunes of a herd of Pachyrhinosaurus, huge, lizard-like ancestors of the rhino. So far so good, but for some reason the film's producers decided to anthropomorphise the creatures in the time-honoured Disney style, with unfortunate consequences for all. There is an educational element, and younger kids may enjoy it, but adults will find it pretty hard going.
