The actress was joined by Bill Hader and Vanessa Bayer as well as director Judd Apatow at the Savoy Cinema on O'Connell Street.

She also crashed a wedding in Dublin city centre earlier this afternoon - joining Glen Hansard for a sing-song in pub Grogans on South William Street.

They sang 'The Auld Triangle' together, serenading newly weds Eithne and J.P.

She also gave a talk at Google HQ in Dublin.

The star also took drag artist Panti’s advice and looked up Irish comedian Sharon Horgan during her stay.

Known for her work on Catastrophe and upcoming HBO show Divorce starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Horgan is fast becoming one of Ireland’s best known comedy stars.

“I followed her on Twitter to see what she's up to and I'm going to check her out," Amy said.

Irish funnywoman Maeve Higgins has previously starred on her TV show and Amy said she would love to work with her again.

"She's hilarious, I didn't realise she'd moved to New York. She’s great, we’ve taken her now - you’re only getting her back on holidays.”

Trainwreck tells the story of “a commitment-phobic" journalist who lies to party - played by Schumer - who “may have to face her fears" when she meets sports doctor Aaron.

Bridesmaids producer Judd said as soon as he saw Amy's script he knew he wanted to direct the movie.

"It was all about Amy, we got along and as soon as I read it, I knew I needed to be behind the camera. I couldn't think of a director who could do it better than me," he said.

Amy rubbishes critics who say the gender roles have been reversed in the film as her character likes to have a few drinks and date a number of guys at once.

"I don't why people say that, all the women I've spoken to are like 'that's so me' but I guess it was true for myself," she said.

Saturday Night Live stalwart Vanessa Bayar said it was a "dream" to work with Tilda Swinton, who plays her and Amy's eccentric boss in the film.

"I was so scared to meet her and she was so lovely but she plays such a scary character so it was terrifying to have her shouting at me, but I think that added more comedy to it," Vanessa said.

The Dublin premiere of Trainwreck was in association with the Dublin International Film Festival and the festival's new dates next year are Feb 18th to 28th.
