Tom Hanks to make Broadway debut?
Tom Hanks is in talks to tread the stage boards on Broadway for the first time.
The two-time Oscar winner is considering portraying famed New York columnist Mike McAlary in Nora Ephron's play, Lucky Guy, reported the New York Post.
The actor's spokesperson confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that he is in negotiations to tackle the role of the influential Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, who died of colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 41.
It would be the third reunion for Tom and Nora, who previously worked together on Sleepless In Seattle (which she wrote) and You've Got Mail, which she directed.
Hugh Jackman had previously done a table-reading as the reporter in 2010, when the script was titled Stories About McAlary.
Inspired by his obituaries, Lucky Guy - which will be directed by George C Wolfe - follows the highlights and low points of Mike's tabloid career, where he covered the most notorious crime stories at the end of the 20th century.
Lucky Guy is expected to premiere in January for a limited run at the Shubert Theatre.
