Tobin Bell: I did work before Saw!

Saw star Tobin Bell has revealed he is surprised when people recognise him for acting work other than the popular horror movie franchise.
The 67-year-old actor has been working for years but is now most famous as serial killer John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, in the Saw films - the seventh of which is out this year.
Bell said: "You know, I get recognised more - still, people come up to me and say, 'Hey you're the guy...', and I think they're going to say, 'from Saw,' and they say, 'from Seinfeld.'"
He adds: "Or, 'You're the guy from Mississippi Burning,' and I'm always like, 'Yes - there we go!' You know, I did do some other things along the way here.
"I never thought that I would be the central guy in a successful franchise like Saw. If that happens to you once in an entire career, it's amazing... The rest of my life, though, is totally the way it was before."
Meanwhile, Saw VI and VII director Kevin Greutert said he believes Jigsaw's moral message in his murders help make the horror movies popular.
He said: "At the end of the day, because there's a veneer of morality that's connected with the Saw series, because Jigsaw is doing things at least ostensibly to teach people 'life lessons', it gives you sort of a free pass to watch and enjoy. I know that sounds bizarre, but that's probably the biggest thing. That there's a reason behind the gore and the mayhem."
