Transformers: Age of Extinction (Tomorrow)

The fourth instalment in the hugely successful franchise is bound to test the patience and eardrums of parents, but will no doubt delight its early teenage market. Irish actor Jack Reynor co-stars with Mark Wahlberg and Kelsey Grammer in an all-action epic in which Optimus Prime and his good-guy robots face a new threat from an old enemy.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (July 17)

In this eagerly anticipated sequel, a deadly virus has wiped out much of humanity, but Caesar, right, the hyper-intelligent chimpanzee, has become leader of a group apes ready to take over the world. Gary Oldman, Andy Serkis star.

Guardians of the Galaxy (Aug 1)

This upcoming big-budget superhero yarn is based on a lesser known Marvel comic, and while some are suggesting it might be a bridge too far for an exhausted genre, others are hoping it might be the next Avengers Assemble.
