Thornton's hopes for Bad Santa 2
Billy Bob Thornton insisted he isn't feeling any pressure about doing the Bad Santa sequel.
The actor, who is set to reprise his role as Willie T Stokes in the follow-up, said his only concern was to live up to the legacy of the 2003 original.
"I'm not worried about doing another Bad Santa in terms of my career or anything like that," he told The Playlist about doing his first ever film sequel.
The star said fans of the first film would have high expectations.
"My only worry is, you know, that movie is pretty darn good," he said.
"I think if you want to do a sequel, you want to at least be on par with that one, if not better. That's the worry. You know, we're probably never going to make one that's exactly what that first one was."
Billy Bob added: "Hopefully we can get close to the first one. But hopefully the fans will at least get a kick out of seeing the character again, and that's my hope for it - that people will get a charge out of seeing that character doing his thing again."
The 56-year-old, who next appears in Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots, said the script would be his starting point.
"It starts there, and we hope the script is as good - and it's not in yet. So hopefully it will be good," he said.
