Taymor's Tempest to close Venice
Julie Taymor's adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest will close this year's Venice Film Festival.
The movie by the American director - which stars Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, Djimon Hounsou and Russell Brand - will have its world premiere at the glitzy event, which runs from September 1 until 11.
Festival director Marco Mueller said the production was "unique and exhilarating" and said that Taymor uses "trademark visual flair and creative direction".
Taymor worked with Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Lange in her debut film, Titus, in 1999. Her 2002 film Frida earned six Academy Award nominations and won two of the gongs.
