Stuntman dies on Expendables 2 set
An Expendables 2 stuntman has died following an explosion on the Bulgarian set.
Two other stunt people, thought to be Chinese, were injured when the film's second unit stunt team filmed a scene for the sequel on the reservoir Ognyanovo, near the capital city of Sofia.
"It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident," Nu Image/Millennium Films, the production company behind The Expendables 2, said in a statement to Deadline.
"Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident."
The film's star and producer Sylvester Stallone and director Simon West are thought to have been filming in the mountain resort village of Bansko at the time.
Local police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The Expendables 2, the eagerly awaited follow-up to Sylvester's 2010 action adventure, boasts a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Liam Hemsworth, Jet Li, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
It is set for release in August 2012.
