Steve Martin's Big Year for comedy?
Steve Martin is in talks to star alongside Jack Black and Owen Wilson in new comedy The Big Year.
The bird-watching themed movie will be directed by Marley And Me's David Frankel and is based on Mark Obmascik's book The Big Year: A Tale Of Man, Nature And Fowl Obsession and adapted for the screen by Howard Franklin, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It is about three men who try to outdo each other in a bird-watching competition to spot the rarest birds in North America, a rivalry which is an allegory for the challenges each faces in his own life.
The project has long been in development at Fox 2000, with Dustin Hoffman among those previously attached to the role Steve is now in negotiations to play.
The movie is due to start shooting in Canada in May.
