‘Stay classy Dublin’ because the Anchorman posse are coming to town.
San Diego’s top-rated fictional newsreader Ron Burgundy is visiting Dublin for the ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ premiere next month.
The man behind the comic character Will Ferrell will be joined by A-listers Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and director Adam McKay for the Irish debut of the cult comedy.
Ferrell’s Burgundy character shot to fame in the film’s first instalment almost 10 years ago for his wacky persona and bizarre ‘isms’.
The fictional news-team has already shown their appreciation for the Anchorman fan-base in Ireland as they paired up with iconic Irish newsreader Anne Doyle for a special version of the ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ trailer.
The clip was created for the biggest ‘Anchorman’ fan-bases and features a cameo of the Wexford woman, her eighties self addressing the world.
The once-brunette features in the trailer with her trademark line, “Good evening. The headlines...”
A quick Google search was all Burgundy’s team needed to discover that Anne Doyle is a well-known face on the Emerald Isle.
Whether Anne Doyle will be at the premiere or not is another thing, but the San Diego team are bound to entertain at the Savoy Cinema on December 9.
The sequel to the hit comedy will follow Burgundy as he returns to the news desk to take the nation’s 24-hour news channel by storm.
