THE stars of new alien film 'Paul' invaded Dublin last night for the Irish premiere.

Described as a "comic take on ET", the light-hearted road movie tells the story of two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage to America's flying saucer capital, sees them hooking up with an alien.

But the first night in Dublin looked every bit as extraterrestrial as the film's stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost signed autographs for fans wearing alien outfits.

A highlight of the film is a cameo from Steven Spielberg.

In fact the pair claimed last night that their film was a "love letter to Steven Spielberg" in respect of the influence his blockbusters had over them. Another longtime idol of the film makers, actress Sigourney Weaver, best known for her role the 'Alien' film series, features in the cast of 'Paul'.
