Stallone announces Rocky musical
Sylvester Stallone has revealed his classic boxing movie Rocky is to be made into musical.
The 65-year-old action star made the announcement in Hamburg, German, where the stage show will premier in November 2012.
Sly revealed at a press conference: "I've always thought Rocky had the right stuff for a musical and have wanted to do it for a long time."
The Expendables star said he wanted the show to focus on the love story between Rocky Balboa and his future wife Adrian.
Tony Award-winning songwriter Lynn Ahrens and composer Stephen Flaherty will write the musical score, which will of course feature the film's iconic Gonna Fly Now theme tune and Survivor's Eye Of The Tiger.
Stallone was joined at the press conference by boxing champion brothers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko, who are producing the show and will train the lead actor.
Sly said: "I imagine I will be able to help the future star of the show to learn the body language of Rocky and to develop a feeling for the character.
"Boxers are always tense, always moving around, and each one has his own characteristics."
