Sienna Miller has been signed up to join the jury at this year's Cannes Film Festival to help decide which movie carries off the prestigious Palme d'Or.

The jury, chaired by directing duo the Coen brothers, will also include French actress Sophie Marceau, director Guillermo del Toro and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Among the films being shown in competition at the festival is lesbian love story Carol, based on Patricia Highsmith's novel, which stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara as lovers in 1950s New York.

Also showing is Macbeth with Michael Fassbender as the Scottish king and Marion Cotillard as his wife, and Paolo Sorrentino's Youth, which has a cast including Michael Caine, Rachel Weisz, Harvey Keitel and Jane Fonda.

Seventeen films are in the running for the Palme d'Or next month, including Gus Van Sant's The Sea Of Trees, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Naomi Watts.

Films showing out of competition include a documentary about the life of singer Amy Winehouse.

The movie, called Amy, is directed by Asif Kapadia. A trailer has been released showing the singer as a youngster predicting she would never be able to "handle" fame.

Winehouse died aged 27 from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 .
