Shepard drives into CHiPS movie
Dax Shepard is to get behind the wheel for a CHiPS film.
The 39-year-old funnyman will star, write, direct and produce the big-screen version of the 1970s crime TV series, reported Deadline.
Dax will play strait-laced Officer Jonathan 'Jon' Baker, originally played by Larry Wilcox, while Michael Pena will co-star as his macho partner, Officer Frank 'Ponch' Poncherello, played by Erik Estrada in the show.
The series' creator Rick Rosner is also on board as an executive producer.
The show, which ran over six seasons from 1977 to 1983, focused on the two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers, who patrolled the highways on motorcycles and tight uniforms, and their antics on the job.
Warner Bros tried to adapt CHiPS for the big screen years ago, when That '70s Show star Wilmer Valderrama was attached to the role of Ponch.
