Seth Rogen has revealed that starring in mother-son comedy The Guilt Trip forced him to rethink his own family relationships.
The Vancouver-born actor stars alongside Barbra Streisand in the film, which follows an inventor and his mother as they embark on a cross-country road trip.
The 30-year-old explained: "For me it's how annoyed the character is with his mother all the time for no reason - it really made me think about that a lot actually, in my own life, because I do that a lot.
"I'm very short with my parents sometimes, for no reason whatever."
Seth said The Guilt Trip, which marks Streisand's first leading role since the 1990s, combined the dynamics of a "traditional buddy comedy" with the complexities of family relationships.
"In a lot of ways it follows a traditional buddy comedy idea, but it's with a mother and son," he said.
"It's really about two people learning about each other and figuring each other out and growing to like each other and understand each other more."
