Sean Bean has revealed he prefers the pace of acting on screen to acting on stage.
The Lord Of The Rings star appears in a new TV advert with the Quaker Oats So Simple Team, surprising Martin Ball, theatre director of Valley Community Theatre, with a fancy new set for his production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, which he admits brought back memories of his early career in theatre.
Sean said: "I like working on films and television because they tend to be quicker in a way, you get something done.
"Whereas when you're in theatre you're repeating yourself a lot of the time, but you're also learning a great deal about the part, much of time, so that's one of the exhilarating things about theatre. And it's live and it's exciting and it's very fulfilling.
"It's just a matter of getting part that you like, a director that you like and play that is suitable."
The 51-year-old was pleased to take part in the campaign rewarding the people who make a real difference to communities.
Sean said: "A lot of these people don't work for money. Martin who runs the theatre workshop in Liverpool just does it on a voluntary basis for the kids out there and they come and it keeps them busy and it's hopefully helping a new generation of thespians."
But the Hollywood star revealed when he turned up to surprise the theatre group, he was outshone by the impressive new set Quaker Oats had given them.
Sean joked: "I think they were more amazed by the tree than they were me. So we had to do a take two on that, because I was just stood there and nobody was looking at me."
