'Saw' makes the final cut
THE 'Saw' horror franchise is finally coming to an end, but the seventh instalment still managed to take the top spot at the weekend box office in North America.
'Saw 3D' earned $24.2m (€19m) over the three days beginning on Friday. The new film cost just under $20m (€14.5m) to make, easily the priciest in the low-budget series, because of the added cost of shooting in 3D. Lionsgate distribution president David Spitz confirmed, however, that 'Saw 3D' is "in all seriousness the final chapter of the series".
