Sanjeev put off Gurinder's cooking
Sanjeev Bhaskar has joked he would be wary of eating at director Gurinder Chadha's house after starring in It's A Wonderful Afterlife.
The Kumars At Number 42 star plays a man whose stomach explodes after eating a poisoned curry in a comedy horror about a mother who murders suitors who turn down her frumpy, grumpy daughter, only to become haunted by them.
Sanjeev joked: "Well you'd have to be careful now (with Gurinder's food), of course - but she did make a film called What's Cooking?, and after that everyone wanted to eat at her house."
The entire cast agreed there was a party atmosphere on set throughout the making of the movie.
Sanjeev said: "As the cast we had a lot of fun. With the ghosts - of which I'm one - I had about three and a half hours in make-up. We came up with games, we played word games and all that stuff, and on set we had a really good laugh."
Zoe Wanamaker, who plays a next-door neighbour of the family, revealed: "It was great fun. She's (Gurinder) fearless and strong and knows what she wants and I had a really good time - we all did. We had great company working together. That was very exciting to do."
Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy was delighted to take time out from making the hit sci-fi show to work with Gurinder.
He said: "When she called up and offered me the part I jumped at the chance. It's a no-brainer - scheduling wise it fit in perfectly with me for Heroes, so it was a done deal as far as I was concerned."
:: It's A Wonderful Afterlife is released on April 21.
