Geoffrey Rush has been linked to the role of alien instructor Tomar-Re in the film Green Lantern.
The King's Speech star has been approached about voicing the character, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, the Los Angeles Times said.
Green Lantern, being directed by Martin Campbell, is set for release in June and is already in the post-production stage.
But casting actors to voice characters at this stage in the film's process is not unusual in Hollywood.
Ryan Reynolds voices the role of Hal Jordan (the Green Lantern) while Blake Lively is Carol Ferris in the Warner Bros movie, adapted from the comic books.
