Ruffalo starring in Low Down film
Mark Ruffalo is set to star as the jazz musician Joe Albany in new film Low Down.
The Oscar-nominated Kids Are All Right actor will also executive produce the indie movie, which explores the pianist's relationship with his 11-year-old daughter Amy, Variety reports.
The story, set in LA, will apparently be told from the child's perspective as she watches her dad interact with other eccentrics in hotels and bars.
Albany, who played with jazz stars including Miles Davis and Charlie Parker, struggled with heroin addiction in the 1950s and 1960s.
Amy Albany has co-written the script, which is based on her memoir Low Down: Junk, Jazz, And Other Fairy Tales From Childhood.
