Brandon Routh would love to play Superman again - but says the decision is not "within my "power".
The American heartthrob, who portrayed the superhero in 2006's Superman Returns, is rumoured to be reprising the role in the upcoming movie, tentatively titled Superman: Man Of Steel, which will be directed by Inception filmmaker Christopher Nolan.
"I don't know, that's up in the air, and I'm sure we'll find out in the future - I certainly would love to return to my character but it's not within my power," he said.
Brandon, who next appears as supervillain Todd Ingram in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, reckons Christopher - who also helmed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight - could do the franchise some good.
"I think he could bring a lot of reality and a lot of creativity. He's a fantastic director and has a lot of psychological thoughts," he said.
"He's very intellectual in his films, and makes you think beyond what's just on the surface, a lot of undertones, so it could be a very deep and action-packed Superman."
