Rodriguez gives Spy Kids a 'reboot'
Robert Rodriguez is getting ready to "reboot" his family-friendly hit Spy Kids.
Almost a decade after he shot the original, the filmmaker has revealed he's about to start work on an updated fourth movie.
"We start shooting that in a couple of weeks," he said at a screening of his new film Machete in the US.
"It's been 10 years since the first one. I decided to reboot it with new kids and Jessica Alba is going to be the mum," he explained.
"I just started again, I was always very fond of the series and there are a lot of ideas," Rodriguez said when asked how the franchise will have moved on.
With Rambo actor Sylvester Stallone starring in the third, Rodriguez joked he'd consider Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger for a role as baddie in the fourth. "That's not a bad idea!" he laughed.
"I'm not sure who the main bad guy is but it'll be someone cool," he insisted.
