Robert Pattinson may be taking over Tobey Maguire's role as superhero Spider-Man.
Rumours are rife that the Twilight hunk might leave his fangs behind for another blockbuster franchise, now that Tobey has announced he won't be doing the fourth film - but Sony Pictures and Columbia refused to confirm the stories.
"Our first step is to find a director," they told Entertainment Tonight.
Earlier this week, Tobey and director Sam Raimi both announced they would not be back for the next movie.
"Working on the Spider-Man movies was the experience of a lifetime for me," said Sam.
"While we were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job."
The next Spider-Man movie, which will see Spider-Man's alter-ego Peter Parker at high school, is expected to be released in 2012.
