Rio perches atop global box office
Rio - the animated bird adventure starring Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg - has topped the international box office chart for the third consecutive weekend.
The film about a blue macaw and his escapades in Brazil, took 32.1 million dollars in 41 territories, with a worldwide total of 239.3 million since it's release.
Close on its heels was Fast Five - the latest in the Fast And Furious franchise - with a tally of 12.6 million dollars in just three territories in advance of its turbocharged US debut this weekend.
As the most action-packed and visually stunning of the Fast films, look for Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to dominate the worldwide market in the weeks to come.
Moving up to third place overseas is Red Riding Hood, which increased to 29 territories and a weekend international gross of eight million dollars, giving this re-boot of the classic fairy tale worldwide appeal to the tune of 70.3 million.
Also making up the top five films at international cinemas last weekend, in figures provided by Hollywood.com, were Russell Brand's animated Easter bunny movie Hop (taking seven million dollars) and Gantz Perfect Answer (taking 6.7 million).
