Ryan Reynolds has revealed that he would like to do a Deadpool film, but admitted it is still in the works.
The Canadian heartthrob, who is attached to reprise his mutant role from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, said the spin-off was still in early stages.
"I love Deadpool and there is a script that's in development. It's sitting there. I've always wanted to do the movie just because Deadpool would get to do his own movie trailer. So that's a thing that we were dying to do and we would love to be a part of that," he told Empire.
Ryan - whose new film The Croods is ruling the US box office - said getting the green light for the stand-alone film is difficult because the movie would need to satisfy its comic book fans.
"I just don't know if the studio would ever risk their reputation doing it. We've been developing it and we would never wanna do it unless you could it that R-rated way," he explained.
"You could do it for a pittance compared to the modern sort of epic scale superhero movies, but it's about a guy who knows he's in a movie and knows he's in a comic book who is deeply mentally disturbed and hyper violent. And that's tough to get by a studio."
The 36-year-old Canadian, who is married to his Green Lantern co-star Blake Lively, was previously seen in thriller Safe House with Denzel Washington. He will next star in thriller RIPD with Jeff Bridges and Kevin Bacon.
