Renee Zellweger hires elocution coach to help her recreate Bridget Jones’ signature accent
As the cast of the latest Bridget Jones instalment continue to film in London, Renee Zellweger is believed to have hired a voice coach to help her resurrect her most famous character.
Comical singleton Bridget last captured audiences more than a decade ago and Renee is finding it difficult to recreate the posh British accent which made her famous.
Renee (46) has been filming in London with her co-star Colin Firth (55) over the past few weeks but feels that, 11 years after filming The Edge of Reason, the actress is finding it difficult to switch into Bridget mode.
A source told The Sunday Mirror: “Renee’s plummy English accent became one of Bridget’s best known characteristics in the films. She came up with it herself. Fans remember it very clearly so it’s essential that it’s spot on.
“But with such a long time passing between the last movie and now, she’s actually not completely certain how she did it, so has brought in an expert.”
Hugh Grant, who played sexual deviant Daniel Cleaver in the first films, will not be reprising his role as Bridget’s love interest in the films. Instead Patrick Dempsey (49), of Grey’s Anatomy fame, will appear as a potential love interest for pregnant Bridget.
Fans who has read the latest installment of The Bridget Jones’ series Mad About Boy, will find that the film does not stretch to that point of Bridget’s life but instead focuses on her pregnancy.
