The Oscar-nominated actor and musician, who previously appeared in Chicago and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, would like to show off his musical talents more on screen.

"I'd love to do another musical. That would be really fun," he said.

"I've been involved in music my whole life. There isn't a certain musical I wouldn't like to be in. I did a lot of them when I was a kid. I really enjoyed Brigadoon - that was a really good story. I love them all. There are a lot of great musicals."

John, who voices a video game bad guy in Wreck-It Ralph, said he had previously turned down other opportunities to star in animated films.

The 47-year-old had previously lent his voice to Nine, because he wanted to be more involved in the creative process, but director Rich Moore convinced him to give this one a go.

"I have been offered a lot of animated stuff in the past but I let them go because it just seemed like an empty suit of a job - you go and read something, then they do the fun part, which is turning it into something creative," he recalled.

"But Rich explained to me that the way he wanted to do this movie was much more interactive with the actors and have us there in the same room when we're recording, which most animated movies don't do.

"So I got to improvise a lot with amazing people like Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch. Rich encouraged me to be a big part of the creative process of this movie, which was very attractive," he added.
