Pitt to star in new slave film?
Brad Pitt is rumoured to be starring in Twelve Years A Slave, opposite Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The Tree Of Life star, who is producing the film through his Plan B production company and has been developing it for years, could be taking a role in the historical drama, reported Screen Daily.
The story was confirmed by a Plan B spokesperson, although no further details were given.
The big-screen adaptation of Solomon Northup's 1853 autobiography would mark the third collaboration between filmmaker Steve McQueen and Michael, following their pairings on Hunger and Shame.
As he promoted Shame at the 55th BFI London Film Festival, Steve kept his cards close to his chest about the upcoming project, saying: "We will see. We'll talk about that when it's time for Twelve Years A Slave."
Co-written by Steve and John Ridley, Chiwetel is tipped to play Solomon, an educated, married black man in New York who was tricked into slavery for many years.
He finally earned back his freedom when a white Canadian carpenter smuggled letters to Solomon's wife, which helped launch a court case that eventually set him free.
Filming is scheduled to begin in 2012.
