Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has earned more than 400 million dollars globally in less than a week, including an international record of 256.3 million dollars in its weekend debut.
This is more than triple the gross in North America, where the film has been performing below expectations.
Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and his mates generated the biggest opening day and the biggest opening weekend of all time in Russia, where it has already earned more than the entire run of the previous instalment, At World's End.
Another global blockbuster, Fast Five, is roaring towards the 500 million dollar mark in worldwide revenue. Earning 19.1 million in 46 international territories, the film has proved to be a favourite with no signs of slowing down.
Thor and its internationally-appealing cast were in third position, taking in 7.1 million dollars in 46 territories.
At eighth position, Woody Allen's Midnight In Paris had a terrific second weekend, with a global total of 11.9 million dollars.
