Pine's Jack Ryan on Wall Street
Chris Pine will play Tom Clancy character Jack Ryan as a stockbroker on Wall Street, it has been reported.
The Star Trek star has signed up to play the writer's iconic hero - previously taken to the big screen by Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford, and Alec Baldwin - and Pajiba.com reports the new movie will not be directly based on a Clancy novel.
A source claims the movie will pick up shortly after Ryan's stint in the Marines but before he's joined the CIA, while he's a Wall Street stockbroker. In the Clancy novels, Ryan was a successful financial analyst in Baltimore for Merrill Lynch.
In the new movie, he will have transferred to Moscow to continue his financial advising, not for Merrill Lynch, but for a billionaire employer who will set him up to take the fall for a terrorist plot designed to collapse the US economy.
Ryan is left to race against time to clear his name, reveal the terrorist plot, and save his wife, who has been taken hostage by the billionaire employer.
The Paramount movie, from little-known screenwriter, Adam Cozad, is tentatively titled Moscow.
