Pine: Cumberbatch is formidable

Chris Pine worked with Benedict Cumberbatch on the Star Trek sequel

Benedict Cumberbatch is a "formidable actor", Chris Pine reckons.

The Rise Of The Guardians actor got to work alongside the Sherlock star on the Star Trek sequel, and while he wouldn't reveal anything about Benedict's character, he admitted he was highly impressed by his British co-star.

"Obviously I can't say much, but there's one scene in it. It's a really hard scene, not for me, but for Benedict. And watching him handle that and to make something that I think, on paper, could have really been a death trap for an actor," he said.

"I also knew that he did Frankenstein, although I never got a chance to see it, but he has great command of his instrument. He's formidable as an actor and as a character in the story. He's a great actor."

Chris - who voices Jack Frost in Rise Of The Guardians - admitted he sometimes has to pinch himself about his job. As well as playing Captain James T Kirk in JJ Abrams' follow-up, he's been filming Jack Ryan with Sir Kenneth Branagh and Keira Knightley.

"I'm doing Jack Ryan now and we're shooting on the Bond stage of this epic set. It's so beautiful," he said.

"There are out-of-body moments where you look back and just think: 'This is all for Jack Ryan!' And I'm just another f***ing actor."

Isla Fisher, Alec Baldwin and Jude Law also star in Rise Of The Guardians, which is in cinemas now.
