Peter Jackson posts Hobbit blog
Peter Jackson has posted his first blog from the set of The Hobbit showing production starting on his 3D epic in New Zealand.
The video on his official Facebook page gives fans a chance to see the set for the Lord of the Rings prequel, costumes and props being made, and cast rehearsing.
Peter said: "I just wanted to take this opportunity to give you a little look at the lead up to filming. I look forward to keeping you up to date as we go through the next two or three years."
He added: "It is strange walking around here because it was ten or 11 years ago and I'm used to looking at a set like this on film and now we're walking back into it again.
"It's kind of like you've stepped inside a movie, it's a very weird experience."
Members of cast and crew, including Andy Serkis who returns as Gollum and Martin Freeman, who stars as Bilbo Baggins, are shown making speeches to the team at the beginning of filming.
Martin said: "This has been a long time coming, it's been even longer than we thought it was going to be. So I hope at the end of this journey we are all as close with each other as at the moment we have the potential to be."
Andy said: "On behalf of the returning cast and crew who have gathered here to go on the journey. We are very grateful to have the opportunity to share the passion for telling such an amazing story."
Peter said: "For a long time I thought that going back to the amazing experience of Lord of the Rings wouldn't be a good idea, but now I've come completely around, because films are about the people you work with."
