It is believed the actress will join Daniel Craig’s as yet untitled fourth James Bond movie.

Her name was included in a release schedule circulated by the French office of Sony Pictures.

When media began to question the studio as to whether the release meant Cruz had the part, they responded with a 'no comment'.

Fans seem to believe that the beauty has landed the role however - producers have tended to opt for exotic foreign accents over native English speakers in recent years.

The typical 'Bond Girl' has changed over the last two decades - from being the spy's arm candy to fully blown action heroine.

If the rumours prove true,  Cruz  at 40 would be the oldest Bond girl since the series began with 'Dr. No' in 1962.

The honour currently resides with Honor Blackman, who at 39 played Pussy Galore in “Goldfinger” in 1964.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Bond for the fourth time in the next installment - the English actor is contracted for a total of five Bond movies before a new Bond will be cast.
