Paul Walker: I was unsure of Wan

Paul Walker has been impressed by James Wan

Paul Walker has revealed he had initial doubts about James Wan taking over the Fast And Furious franchise from Justin Lin.

The Californian actor, who is best known for playing FBI agent Brian O'Conner in the action movies, admitted he was "scared" of filming without Justin, who directed the last four films.

"I was so scared, going in without Justin," he told Collider.

"I was still deciding, and Peter Safran, a producer on Hours, did The Conjuring with James. So, when James was anointed as the new guy, Peter called me up and said, 'Dude, you're gonna love him. That guy's amazing!' Coming from Peter, that meant something."

Paul said he was finally convinced by the Malaysian-born filmmaker after they spoke.

"I was like, 'this guy is so sweet. He's so nice'. My intuition is on point with people. I can read people. Even through the phone, you can read sincerity," he explained.

"James is really excited on set. He's just a cool guy. He's a little ninja. He's a little assassin warrior. I'm really, really impressed with James, as a person. He's a talented guy."

Paul - who will return to the seventh instalment alongside Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Dwayne Johnson - also revealed that the eighth film will be a goer.

"The studio supposedly wants 8, 9 and 10. I'll be 50. Even if 7 were to [tank], there's at least an 8. That's a guarantee," he said.
