Robert Pattinson has revealed he still feels the need to prove himself as an actor.

The 28-year-old has shown off his acting skills in films such as David Cronenberg's dramas Cosmopolis and Maps To The Stars, and David Michod's crime drama The Rover after moving on from playing vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight films.

"I don't know if I've really particularly found my feet as an actor yet - I have to prove certain things," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Robert admitted portraying Edward, opposite then-girlfriend Kristen Stewart as love interest Bella Swan, was challenging.

"It was quite a constricting character, in a way. You want to make [him] as dramatic as possible, but you have someone who never loses his temper, and so it's like, 'How the f*** do you do this?' I think that was one of the hardest jobs I've ever done," he said.

R-Patz said he blagged his way to the audition without doing any research after sending an audition tape with flatmate Tom Sturridge playing Bella. He revealed he and director Catherine Hardwicke then had "this ridiculous conversation, and I hadn't read the books or the script or anything and I just bull****ed on the phone."

Robert also joked how he has no clothes because he is constantly on the move.

"I don't understand how I don't have any clothes. I've basically stolen every item of clothing that anyone's ever given me for a premiere, but in my closet there's literally about three things," he said.

He added: "I have extremely simple desires. I don't need anything. I don't want anything at all."
