Parrish in talks for Hunger Games
Hunter Parrish has confirmed he is in talks to star as the male lead in new action trilogy Hunger Games.
The Weeds star told E! Online that he met producers to discuss playing Peeta in the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins's young-adult novel, which is already being tipped as the new Twilight, and would jump at the chance to star opposite Jennifer Lawrence.
Hunter revealed: "I've met the producers. I'd be grateful to get the opportunity. Like, really grateful. It would be amazing. I read the books all last year, and I guess they're starting filming soon."
Asked about the reports 20-year-old Winter's Bone star Jennifer was about to be offered the part of tomboy heroine Katniss over 14-year-old rivals Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin, Hunter said: "If it's Jennifer [Lawrence], man, sign me up!
"I think if it ended up being Hailee Steinfeld or Saoirse [Ronan] or who's the other one? Abigail Breslin. Then it would be weird. It would be really weird."
Hunger Games is set in a dystopian future where a young woman joins a survival contest to save her community and ends up fighting alongside baker's son Peeta.
Variety has reported that director Gary Ross and studio Lionsgate want Jennifer for the female lead, as casting an older actress will set the tone for the film.
