Paramount picks up Killing Bono
Killing Bono, starring Ben Barnes and Cherrybomb's Robert Sheehan, is to be distributed in the UK and Ireland by Paramount
The comedy tells the story of two hapless brothers, Neil and Ivan, who set up a failing band in Dublin in the late 70s while their classmates and rivals go on to become the world-renowned U2.
Andrew Cripps, of Paramount Pictures International, told Variety: "Killing Bono is a well written, funny and highly entertaining film that we think will be very commercial in both the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Paramount is very pleased and proud to be part of this exciting project."
The film is directed by Nick Hamm, whose other films include Martha - Meet Frank, Daniel And Laurence and The Hole.
The cast also includes Pete Postlethwaite, Charlie Cox, Ralph Brown and Peter Serafinowicz.
The script is written by Dick Clement, Ian La Frenais and Simon Maxwell and is based on Neil McCormick's autobiography, released as I Was Bono's Doppelganger in the UK and Killing Bono in the US.
