The four-time Oscar nominee, who has received nods for her roles in The Fighter, Doubt, Enchanted and Junebug, is tipped for awards glory following her intense performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master.

"I will definitely be proud to show up, but I think it's far too presumptuous for me to claim any victory," she said.

"To be singled out and to be discussed in any talk about the Oscars is really flattering. I wouldn't throw it in the ocean, but I don't feel I would have missed something in my career if I don't win an Oscar."

Amy's leading man Joaquin Phoenix, who plays restless sailor Freddie Quell, may have spoilt his chances of winning an award after slamming the Oscars as "total, utter bulls***".

The actress hopes the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences board will overlook his comments to grant him an award, but admitted: "It's hard to say, I guess that would be up to them."

:: The Master is in cinemas now.
